The Weight I Lay Down

I think it’s time to let go.

I’ve carried so much weight

always giving, always holding,

always trying to be the steady voice

that says everything will be fine.

But the more I give,

the more I lose pieces of myself.

Doubt has become a shadow,

and peace feels further and further away.

So I choose to step back.

Not out of anger,

but out of care for my own heart.

I deserve to breathe freely,

to live without second-guessing my worth.

It will hurt for a while,

the silence will be heavy,

but hurt is temporary.

And beyond it,

there is clarity,

there is peace.

Letting go is not failure

it is freedom.
